The “Strength” To Lift Resistance: Do The Work

It’s Friday, so we’re going to take a break from the simplified nutrition, training and supplement conversation we have each day, to touch on the source of “resistance” that can take us away from doing what we really WANT to be DOING.

I call this resistance a mind-virus that sucks the life out of us, and nobody is immune. Only by defeating it everyday can we claim VICTORY.

As Author Steven Pressfield states in his two recent books about getting past “stuck”; The War Of Art: Wining the Inner Creative Battle, and Do The Work;

“RESISTANCE IS INVISIBLE  Resistance cannot be seen, touched, heard, or smelled. But it can be felt. We experience it as an energy field radiating from a work-in-potential. It’s a repelling force. It’s negative. Its aim is to shove us away, distract us, prevent us from doing our work.”

For those who can’t relate just yet, the resistance in your mind is like a rogues gallery of mental roadblocks that in general, cause you to put off until tomorrow, what you should do today. The problem is; tomorrow may never come.

But we’re all so busy, you say, “sometimes I just can’t get to the gym, eat right, get a good nights rest or take my supplements”. To that I say; BULLSHIT! For those of us who want to build a better body, the stakes are never higher––you only get one body this time around, and if you can’t take care of that TODAY––will you when it’s too late?

Modern life puts tremendous demands on us all, and if we aren’t as strong and healthy as possible, how will we make it through?

RIght now is all we have, so when YOU and I decide to Do The Work, we are actually finding the “Strength” to lift the Resistance, that is only in our mind.

Everyday ask yourself;

What Can You I Better Today?

  • Get up and get outside and feel the sunshine
  • NOW skip some of those carbs
  • Train today anytime—midday, early or late
  • Take the 3 extra minutes to make the protein snack
  • Today, do weights before cardio
  • Skip the last TV show and get to bed earlier tonight
  • Go out and play with your kids the moment they ask
